Live Guide To State-Specific Cannabis Purchase Limits

While recreational or adult-use cannabis has started to spread, the legalization movement is not all equal. Interestingly, each state has decided on different purchase limits based on different categories of consumption per day. Overall, each valid (I.e., of age) user can only purchase a specific amount of cannabis per day. Sometimes this is defined by calendar day or by 24-hour period. Most states also recognize different purchase limits for recognized medical patients as well as certain different tax qualifications. In this guide, we will be reporting on state-specific daily purchase limits only for recreational or adult-use states. Keep this page bookmarked- we’ll be sure to update this as new regulations roll out!

While these laws are in place for multiple reasons, sometimes guests try to “outsmart” the dispensary or the system by attempting to over-purchase or proceed with looping schemes to purchase more than their allowed daily limit. For those guests, there are not many consequences in place, however the dispensary responsible for over-selling will be subject to fines and risk losing their license. Some systems do not have safeguards in place to prevent this and therefore allow themselves open to risk of falling out of compliance. MJ Platform, however, has precision overselling prevention in place to ensure this does not happen in any MJ Platform-powered dispensary. A demonstration on how our overselling prevention technology works is available right here.
