Sometimes you just need something fun to binge while you light up on the couch at home. If you’re inspired by the joint you’ve fired, we have a list of some fun media to marinate on while you light up. You can only re-watch The Office so much.
On Netflix
Reincarnated (Ft. Snoop Dogg)
No self-respecting cannabis-aficionado could make a list of marijuana-related media without including something related to the godfather of stoners himself, Snoop Dogg. This documentary takes an intimate look at Snoop’s move into the reggae genre and Rastafari culture—as well as his then-title: Snoop Lion. Clocking in at an hour and 35 minutes, this movie won’t take up your entire day, it might give you some interesting trivia to throw at friends on your next happy hour.
Disjointed
Led by Oscar-winning Kathy Bates, this show is Netflix’s love letter to cannabis. Focusing on a Californian marijuana dispensary and the motley crew that makes up its customer base, this show is a guarantee for a high amount of laughter. Sadly, the show only ran for 2 seasons before being canceled in 2018—but you can still enjoy its arc on Netflix. It’s not going to make you think too hard, but it will make you exhale out of your nose here and there.
Cooked with Cannabis
If you’re more of an Iron Chef and Chopped fan, Cooked with Cannabis will be right up your alley. Hosted by Kelis of “Milkshake” fame, this show has guest chefs making a three-course meal comprised of CBD and THC-infused dishes. For at-home chefs, they’re very clear about both flavor and potency, so if you’re up for the challenge, give it a try!
Weeds
Critically acclaimed and running for 8 seasons, Showtime’s dark comedy Weeds centers around fictional marijuana dealing in an affluent California suburb. While 8 seasons might sound like a lot to get through for even the most devoted binge-watcher, here’s a good reason to dive into this show: as of November 2019, Starz announced its intent to release a sequel, Weeds 2.0.
On Hulu
Weediquette
For viewers looking for a more educational experience, we suggest “Weediquette”. Hosted by Vice’s Krishna Andavolu, this series delves into the impacts of cannabis legalization economically and socially. It even takes a look at marijuana and healthcare’s influence on each other, perhaps laying the groundwork for medical marijuana dispensaries being recently deemed essential.
On Amazon Prime
The Marijuana Show
Have you ever wanted to watch the equivalent of Shark Tank for cannabis consumers? If so, you’ve hit the jackpot with The Marijuana Show. Currently there’s 3 seasons of cannabis entrepreneurs trying to pitch their businesses to industry veterans and knowledgeable investors. Season 4 has been delayed, but show writers are already planning their triumphant return.
High Profits
A CNN-produced documentary, High Profits focuses on young cannabis business owners Brian Rogers and Caitlin McGuire attempting to expand their legal marijuana dispensary beyond Colorado. No spoilers, but given that this documentary was released in 2015 and the current state of cannabis in the country, it’s safe to say they—and many other cannabis business owners—have a bright future ahead of them.
